Packing up the Past

 Bubble wrap and protective foam

preserve the treasures once proudly shown.

Days of glory in the past

kept forever on gilded plaques.

A shadow box and journal page,

 a stack of yearbooks from the age 

of brown and gold and knowledge sure,
of scholars, fakes, and friendship pure.

I sit here packing up the past.
This chapter's ending much too fast!

Goodbye, Bonanza and graduation,

No more days of summer vacation.
A blank page and a change within,
The brand-new chapter to begin

There's one last thing I must admit,

This chapter was my favorite.
